Just stopping by...

Wow, I haven't visited here in a while. I can honestly say that I haven't felt like blogging at all this fall, and with good reason. JP and I are expecting a baby in June! I haven't been blogging because the first trimester left me exhausted - I would go to work, come home, nap, make dinner, eat dinner, go back to bed. It wasn't uncommon for me to be in bed by 7:30pm.

Anyhoo, I can't say I will be here with any regularity (still get pretty tired pretty easily - not being able to find a comfortable position to sleep in is contributing to that), but if anyone who mightstop by is interesting in hearing baby stuff, JP has started a baby blog. You can find it here.

Just to make Jay Happy

*Hi Jay*

I am currently getting ready to Leave on a Jet Plane to Italy. Yes, we did this last year. No this is not deja vu.

My wonderful hubby surprised me with a trip back to Italy for our anniversary.

YAY JP!

We are going to Venice, Naples, Pompeii, the Amalfi coast, Cosenza and Rome. It will be a wonderful trip and we will have a great time.

However, right now all I can think of is that I have to get on a plane and there are butterflies slam dancing in my tummy.

I had an interesting experience today.

Today was the last day of classes. Normally this would be cause for celebration but I had to say good-bye to some awesome grade 12 students who are graduating. As I was saying good-bye to one of them, one who I had taught during all of her four years of highschool, we had a realization. I had been her homeroom teacher in grade 9, so I was the first teacher she had in highschool, and, since our class was last period today, I was her last teacher in highschool as well.

I was kind of a sad moment for me.

Confusion Runs High

I am confused about how my Italian in-laws, who put olive oil in everything, avoid feeding it to me, yet my father and my step-mother manage to sneak it into at least one dish every time we eat at their house.

My tummy doesn't feel so hot.

Totally Desensitized

How bad is it that I look at the weather report for tomorrow and think that a high of -5 Celcius is "not bad" and "kinda warm"?

A Special Winter Treat

Snow day, snow day, snow day!

Snow day, snow day, snow day!

(I could keep this up all day)

Yes, my colleagues and I are experiencing the very rare phenomenon - the Snow Day. This is the first one my board has called in 5 years. Because it is an unexpected day off, it is a day out of time, where nothig you were supposed to do needs to get done.

Even betterm since the roads are so bad, JP has stayed home too. He probably would have tried to go into work had I not had my neurosis about driving in snow. I would have been a HUGE ball of stress and worry if he had been on the roads.

So happy Snow Day everyone...even if it isn't a snow day where you are.

Subtle...

I know, I know, I have been absent from my blog for a loooonnnnnngggggg time. There has been a lot going on that I don't feel like getting into tonight, so that will be saved for another time.

For now, I would like to share a funny story (funny haha, not funny peculiar)

Yesterday was my 32nd birthday (Go Me!). Because my family is fragmented (divorce has that effect), I get to celebrate my borthday multiple times. I don't mind, not at all.

Friday night, JP and I went out for dinner, just the 2 of us.

Last night we went out for expensive dinner with my mom and her main squeeze.

Today we went to see Pan's Labrynth (amazing yet haunting and disturbing movie) and for dinner with my dad and step-mom.

Ever since my mid-teen years my dad just gives me money for my birthday, that way he knows I'll get what I want (or I'll put it toward something I am saving for). This year I got the cheque as usual...and a gift bag from my step-mom.

What was in this out of the ordinary gift bag from my step-mom you may wonder....

Folic Acid supplements.

Yup, she wants grandkids...BAD

Subtle, isn't she.
